Why paint your cabinets?
Painting your cabinets is one of the fastest, easiest, and least expensive ways to completely upgrade the look of your kitchen, bathroom, or any room with cabinets. Are your cabinets suffering wear and tear from heavy traffic causing chipping and staining? Installing new cabinets is expensive. But you can get your cabinets painted or refinished for a fraction of the price. Even better, you get to keep your original cabinetry.
Affordability isn’t the only reason to paint your cabinets and renew the beautiful wood in your home. Repainting your cabinets can actually increase their durability, allowing you to get even more years out of them.
If you’re tired of the look of your kitchen cabinets, the world truly is your oyster when it comes to color options. One look at your newly painted cabinets, and you’ll think they’re brand new.
No more dated oak, dark wood, or unsightly
colors that the previous homeowners chose!
Our cabinet painting prep process

Century Painting follows a detailed cabinet painting process that starts with labeling and removing all doors, drawer fronts, hinges, and knobs or handles.

Next, we scrub all cabinets clean with degreaser and scrubbing pads, then rinse of the degreaser.

The 2nd to last prep step is wiping down the cabinets with microfiber towels to remove moisture.

After degreasing, we sand the cabinets, then wipe them down with a 50/50 solution of denatured alcohol & water.

After masking the insides of the cabinet boxes with paper or plastic and high-tack tape, the prep is finally completed.

How we paint cabinets

We set up a high-velocity cylinder air blow with a filter and exhaust hose to control air quality. The air blower will move filtered paint fumes through the hose outside through a window or door.
A high-volume low-pressure paint gun is used to apply spray sealer and topcoats onto all cabinets, which are scuff-sanded between coats. The last step is reinstalling the removed pieces, which we smartly labeled in the beginning.

Frequently Asked Questions
This is a question we get occasionally. The answer is a big NO. Ninety percent of wood cabinet doors are made with five pieces. Two rails, two stiles, and a center panel. The panel is designed to float. Wood is hygroscopic and expands and contracts with moisture fluctuations.
The floating panels allow this to happen without warping the door or, worse, cracking it. If we were to caulk between the center panel and the rails/stiles it would be a recipe for disaster.
