How To Seal Your Pavers

paver sealing charlotte nc

Sealing your pavers is a very delicate process, and if done incorrectly can be very costly to you, ruin your pavers, and can even ruin your surrounding deck area!

At Century Painting, we recommend having an experienced professional seal your pavers.  If you are sealing your pavers, here’s how you should do it.

How To Seal Your Patio Pavers:

  • Always hire a professional to seal your pavers. Pavers need to be properly cleaned before they are sealed in order for the sealer to properly stick and settle. Someone with knowledge and experience in paver sealing and installation should always be the one to install your pavers. If someone who doesn’t know what they are doing installs them, they may miss a crucial step.
  • Beware of any price that sounds too good to be true. If something is too cheap, it is probably because the product itself is too cheap. Cheap sealants bubble, don’t last a long time and create a massive headache when re-sealing. Premium sealant lasts the longest out of anything and will give you the most longevity for your dollar.
  • Use a water-based sealer around pools: Water can cause oil-based sealers to become incredibly slippery and become dangerous to walk on, especially around pools and other high-moisture surfaces. Water-based sealers don’t have the same slippery effects when wet and are safer for high-traffic areas.
  • Seal pavers every 3-5 years for best results.
